Do You Know Your Design Type?

For many people, working on their own design projects brings them a lot of joy. While Lee Waters Design does offer several options for those who want to hand over their design projects to the professionals, we recognize that many people just want to do it themselves. We are totally here to support your DIY process! Let’s set the stage with a hypothetical question, one that may stop many DIYers in their tracks – what happens when you don’t know your design “type”? Can you really start your design process without knowing this?

First, congratulations on recognizing there’s an issue at all. Coming to the realization that something feels off in your home is a big step. You may have said to yourself, It’s obvious that changes need to happen – let’s redesign! There are lots of reasons, some of which you may not be able to verbalize, that necessitate a change. Maybe you’ve been living with hand-me-downs for a bit or maybe none of your furniture sparks joy for you or functions well in your space. Perhaps the colors are all off because you didn’t really know what you were doing the first time around.

At this point, you want to start making a plan. You go to type in something in your search bar, but are paralyzed by the fact that you don’t even know what search terms to use when looking for new stuff. Panic sets in and you think, can I even do this at all? Do you type in “blue things with straight lines that aren’t overly stuffed”????

Fear not, you’re in the right place! Whether you know it or not, you do have a design type and we can help you find it. We can even help you learn what the different types of design are (transitional design, anyone?). This is one of the many things our Take Back Your Home Course teaches you.

  1. Learn your personal design type. (hint – you might have more than one and yes, you CAN mix them)
  2. Learn the correct terminology for furniture and other design elements so you can confidently find the pieces you want.
  3. Come to the realization of WHY your current space is driving you absolutely crazy and what needs to happen to fix it.
  4. So many more things that will revolutionize the way you look at design, especially in the context of your own home.

Have we convinced you to come on over yet? We believe that good design is one of the essential keys to a happy life. Taking part in our course might just be one of the best things you’ll do this year. What more can we say? Let 2023 be the year that you start your new design process and never look back.
